CertMusic takes the opposite approach: instead of scanning the output, we verify the process. Artists attest their work is human-made and can provide evidence (DAW sessions, stems, recording footage). Think of it like organic food certification — we verify how it was made, not just what it looks like.
The attestation is a legally binding statement. False attestation can result in certificate revocation and account suspension. Artists can also strengthen their certification by uploading evidence — DAW project files, session recordings, stems, and collaborator credits. Our evidence-backed and verified tiers provide increasingly strong proof. Think of it like signing a tax return — the legal weight of the declaration itself is the primary deterrent.
No. CertMusic uses standard cryptographic methods — SHA-256 hashing and RFC 3161 trusted timestamps — to create tamper-evident certificates. No wallets, no gas fees, no tokens. The same cryptographic principles that secure HTTPS and SSL certificates, applied to music provenance.
CertMusic certifies that the core musical composition — melody, lyrics, vocals, and arrangement — was created by humans. Using AI for minor tasks like EQ suggestions, mastering assistance, or reference mixing is generally acceptable, just as using auto-tune or drum machines doesn't make music "non-human." The attestation clearly defines what constitutes human creation.
Every certificate has a unique public verification URL (e.g., certmusic.com/verify/CM-2026-XXXX) that anyone can visit to confirm the certificate is valid. The page shows the certificate status, track details, audio hash, and certification level. No account or login needed — completely public and free to verify.
